DECEMBER
Thanks to Sole Sistahs who raised $4,000 for WOGS!

Like the Womenade organization itself, friendship translated into helping neighbors. A local group
of runners, the Sole Sistahs,
donated almost $4,000 to Womenade of the Greater Seacoast in December. Many of the Sole Sistahs team members were struck by the positive and encouraging friendships that had been forged through running.
They decided to organize an all women's Reach the Beach Relay team, and at the same time raise money for Womenade, because they wanted to do something in
their community they all felt
strongly about.

This group of runners raised over $3,000 for Womenade
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Exeter Hospital, all 14 Sole Sistahs were able to donate their entry fees for the annual event. Some of the team members also raised additional
funds by sending out letters and getting individual sponsors, with Helene-Marie Collins leading the way. The finally tally on this effort was more than $3,900! "The experience was rewarding and supportive on so many levels," Sole Sistah Emily Kerr wrote in an e-mail that it was a great example of how groups and individuals can pull together to make a difference in their communities.

Thank you to all who attended and

About 45 women helped Womenade
of Greater Squamscott celebrate its
second anniversary at Elements, a new fitness center for women in Exeter. The results of the last two years have been impressive.
Karen Monaco, treasurer of Womenade,
reported that since the organization's
inception, $42,000 had been raised and
given back to the community.
“We thank you for allowing us to allocate it,”
she said. Other members of the Board related
stories about how the money has helped

people in the area, like the homeless family
in need of food and a security deposit. Womenade also financed car repairs so
that an area resident would be able to
drive to the hospital for dialysis. Attendees
also honored Kari Lazarowich, who has stepped down from the board. She has been integral to the success of Womenade since its inception.
“Every design, every invitation, every piece of
paper that has to do with Womenade was
Kari’s creation, and we can’t thank her enough,” said Mary Jane Keene, board member.

Comedian Cindy Pierce headlined a Womenade Fundraiser in November 2006.
New Hampshire's own queen of comedy, Cindy Pierce performed "Finding the Doorbell," her story about her intimate
hunt for an "owner's manual to the place where we all came from„" for 300 women and a handful of men at the Frank Jones Center in Portsmouth.
Grown men were laughing so hard
they were crying," one audience
member said.
"As for the women, well, she had them
at the doorbell."
Womenade of Greater Squamscott,
Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth,
Womenade of the Hamptons
and Oyster River Womenade hosted
the event. Together the ADE groups
raised $10,000. Nearly $2,200 of that
amount came back to help families living
in the Greater Squamscott community.
